US Chargé d’Affaires Jeremy Berndt has urged Libyan stakeholders to name representatives to participated in the upcoming UN-sponsored conference on political process in the country.
This was stated by the US Embassy in Libya on Sunday following a meeting between Berndt and UN Special Envoy to Libya Abdoulaye Bathily.
“In my meeting with [Bathily] today, I expressed strong U.S. support for his efforts to bring together institutional stakeholders to resolve political issues standing in the way of elections,” Berndt was quoted as saying by the the American embassy.
“We urge all stakeholders to quickly name their representatives to [UN] preparatory talks and engage in constructive dialogue to put Libya on the path to long-term stability.”
For his part, Bathily said via X that he “welcomed the US support for bringing together the institutional stakeholders in a meeting to resolve the political issues around elections.”
