The Chief of Staff of Libya’s Western Region, Lieutenant General Mohamed al-Haddad, has signed a technical agreement with the Chief of Staff of the Italian Ministry of Defense, Admiral Cavo Dragone, to train the Special Forces of the Libyan Government of National Unity (GNU).
This came during al-Haddad’s visit to the Italian Army’s headquarters in Rome on Tuesday in the presence of the Italian Deputy Chief of Staff Carmini Mazzello and the Joint Operations Commander of the Special Forces, Admiral Paolo Pezzotti, according to GNU Chief of Staff.
Dragone welcomed al-Haddad and his accompanying delegation at the signing ceremony, which took place in the presence of the Director of the Office of GNU Minister of Defense, the Director of the Training Department, the Commander of the Special Forces, the Military Coordinator of the Libyan-Italian Committee, and the Legal Adviser at the Ministry of Defense.
Dragone also praised the efforts made, the exchange of experiences and military cooperation between the two countries, pointing to the importance of the cooperation of neighboring countries in the Mediterranean region to address the security challenges facing the region.
