Libyan Parliament Speaker Aguila Saleh met Monday with the US Assistant Secretary of State for Middle East Affairs Barbara Leaf and her accompanying delegation, including US Special Envoy to Libya Ambassador Richard Norland and Chargé d’Affaires of US Embassy in Libya Leslie Ordman.
The meeting, held in Benghazi, discussed developments of the situation in Libya, in addition to emphasizing the necessity of holding presidential and parliamentary elections.
Saleh reviewed what the Parliament had accomplished in terms of legislation necessary for holding the elections, and its intention to elect members of the joint committee to prepare election laws in accordance with the thirteenth constitutional amendment during today’s session.
The two sides also stressed the need to create all conditions on the ground in order to hold the presidential and parliamentary elections.
