Extensive field campaign in Tarhuna to combat ticks after Rickettsia cases were detected

Tarhuna – On Saturday, the Ministry of Local Government launched an emergency field campaign to combat the spread of ticks in the Al-Masabha locality of the Souq Al-Jumaa district in Tarhuna, in response to the emergence of confirmed cases of “Rickettsia” disease, associated with the presence of this insect in several locations.

The Ministry stated, in a statement published on its official Facebook page, that the campaign is supervised by the General Administration of Environmental Sanitation Affairs and involves joint cooperation from the Environmental Sanitation departments in the municipalities of Garabulli, Tripoli, Tarhuna, South Tripoli, Zliten, and Ain Zara, as part of a rapid response to emergencies and to mitigate health risks.

The participating teams began extensive pesticide spraying operations in all areas where the ticks were detected, with full adherence to safety procedures during use, in addition to educating citizens on how to handle pesticides safely and avoid infection.

The Ministry indicated that this campaign is part of a comprehensive response program being prepared in coordination with relevant authorities to establish a working mechanism and a timeline for monitoring health emergencies and detecting any potential hotspots for disease transmission.

The campaign aims to contain the spread of ticks and reduce their health risks, as part of efforts to promote public health and citizen safety.
