Italy is coordinating with Libya to support its security forces as part of a capacity-building plan from 2021 to 2025, a senior Italian military officer revealed on Tuesday.
Teo Luzi, who heads Italy’s Carabinieri, made the revelation during a hearing before his country’s Joint Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee.
“We have prepared a five-year roadmap from 2021 to 2025, and planned activities that will be carried out for the benefit of the Libyan security forces within the framework of bilateral cooperation,” Luzi said when asked about the international deployment of his forces.
The Italian general did not disclose any details about the plan or the Libyan force that will benefit from it.
