Kufra – The municipality of Kufra and western Jawf today witnessed a popular movement with the participation of a large number of residents, including the city’s elders, notables, and dignitaries, alongside representatives of civil society, sports clubs, and equestrian clubs, as part of a national movement demanding urgent presidential elections.
The official spokesman for the Kufra Municipal Council, Abdullah Suleiman Hamed, confirmed to the Libyan News Agency that the movement issued a statement with two main tracks. The first is directed at the UN mission, denouncing what it described as the mission’s negative role in Libya and prolonging the crisis instead of contributing to its resolution, calling on the mission to adhere to its primary duties and help Libyans find solutions to the crisis.
As for the second track, it was addressed to the House of Representatives, where the statement called for the announcement of urgent presidential elections to end division and fragmentation, achieve the country’s advancement, and stop foreign intervention, in addition to saving the national economy from the ongoing crisis. It stressed that the optimal solution for the accumulated crises lies in a comprehensive presidential election in which all members of civil society and the city’s senior sheikhs participate.
