Mostafa Abdelkebir, President of the Tunisian Observatory for Human Rights, stated that the issue of debts owed by the Libyan state to Tunisian clinics has begun to turn into a crisis affecting patients’ rights to receive treatment.
In exclusive statements to “The New Arab” website, Abdelkebir explained that most Libyan patients who come to Tunisia for treatment under state-sponsorship decisions suffer from chronic diseases or require expensive surgical interventions, which exacerbates the volume of bills accumulated at the clinics.
Abdelkebir called on the authorities of both countries to expedite the resolution of this issue and improve the level of cooperation between Libya and Tunisia, stressing that health cooperation remains one of the most prominent areas that can be developed between the two sides.
