Ahmed Al-Deeb, head of the administrative board of the Man-Made River Authority, said that the project to supply water to the municipality of Zawiya had been halted since 2011 and was implemented through the Authority’s efforts. He explained that the project’s pipeline extends for 60 kilometers, starting from Al-Sayeh to the final point in the Zawiya region, in a statement to the “Libya Al-Ahrar” channel.
Al-Deeb clarified that the project is under the Man-Made River Authority and was under daily monitoring by the administrative committee. Water has been delivered to the final point in Zawiya, he noted, adding that the next phase is the responsibility of the Housing and Utilities projects to deliver water within the municipalities.
He stated that the preparations were part of projects that had been stalled since 2011 due to security conditions and associated thefts, noting that rehabilitation was the most suitable option. Thanks to the expertise of the technical teams, the work was expedited.
He reported that the route was rehabilitated and maintained, and tests were conducted for water to reach Jadu, emphasizing the Authority’s work over a wide geographical area.
Al-Deeb confirmed that last week, the team completed intensive work and repairs that restored the pumping of water eastward to Benghazi and westward towards Sirte, via the main route of the Tazerbo-Benghazi system as part of the first phase.
