The European Union Border Assistance Mission in Libya (EUBAM) confirmed holding the fifth meeting of the joint committee with its Libyan counterparts on the seventh of this September at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Dbeibah government in the capital, Tripoli.
According to a EUBAM report, the meeting included an update on the extension of the mission’s mandate, in addition to a review of upcoming activities within the framework of joint cooperation.
Head of Mission Jan Vyčítal explained that efforts will continue to enhance capabilities and infrastructure on the western borders, with a focus on building on achievements in the maritime domain, including strengthening the search and rescue capabilities of Libyan agencies.
Vyčítal noted the importance of cooperation in combating cross-border crime, especially in the field of forensics, calling on the Libyan side to take full advantage of the advisory expertise offered by the mission.
The two parties agreed to hold the next meeting of the joint committee in early December to follow up on what has been accomplished.
