The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh, praised the “Reconstruction Cup” initiative hosted by the city of Benghazi, noting that sports and cultural activities represent a fundamental pillar in the nation-building process alongside urban and service projects.
During a meeting with the Director General of the Libyan Development and Reconstruction Fund, Belgasem Khalifa, Saleh stressed that such sports and cultural initiatives are no less important than urban and service projects, as they contribute to strengthening national belonging and consolidating social cohesion among the various components of society.
He affirmed the full support of the House of Representatives for initiatives aimed at improving services for citizens and developing the country’s infrastructure.
During the meeting, Belgasem Khalifa provided an update on the latest completion rates of ongoing projects and the fund’s future plans to ensure the reconstruction process continues at an accelerated pace. He stressed that the fund continues to implement its projects in a manner that meets the needs of citizens and contributes to promoting development in various Libyan regions.
The two parties also discussed the latest political developments in the country and the importance of integrating the efforts of national institutions to ensure stability and advance the nation-building process.
