Tripoli – Abdullah Al-Lafi, Deputy Chairman of Libya’s Presidential Council, met on Tuesday with Turkey’s Ambassador to Libya, Kenan Yilmaz, to discuss recent developments in the political process and efforts to unify the country’s military institution.
According to Al-Lafi’s official statement, the talks reviewed several issues of mutual concern. The main topics included bilateral relations between Libya and Turkey and prospects for expanding cooperation across multiple sectors.
Both sides addressed the latest developments in Libya’s political landscape and ongoing efforts to overcome the national political deadlock. They also examined steps taken toward unifying the military, solidifying state institutions, and promoting security and stability.
During the meeting, both parties affirmed the Presidential Council’s ongoing efforts to play a key role in resolving the political impasse and supporting processes that could lead to a comprehensive national solution. They stressed that any resolution to the Libyan crisis must be based on the will of the Libyan people, follow a purely national path, and include all major stakeholders without exclusion.
The officials also emphasized that resolving the current situation requires consensus, dialogue, and partnerships among Libya’s national forces, rather than confrontation. They agreed that a stable political trajectory should lead to legitimate elections, strengthen democracy, and meet the aspirations of the Libyan people.
For his part, the Turkish ambassador reaffirmed his country’s support for the efforts and initiatives of the Presidential Council. He welcomed moves aimed at achieving stability and consensus in Libya, and emphasized the importance of continued coordination and consultation to advance the interests of both countries and support the hopes of the Libyan people.
