“The holding of acceptable and fair elections in Libya requires an executive authority capable of extending its power over the whole country backed by a unified supervisory authority, which requires speeding up the unification of sovereign positions,” said the head of the State Council, Khaled Al-Mashri.
The statements of the leader in the Muslim Brotherhood group came during a meeting with the US ambassador to Libya, Richard Norland, in Tripoli, where the two sides discussed the political crisis in the country in light of the presence of two governments, according to a statement by Al-Mashri media office.
For his part, Norland affirmed his country’s support for “everything that would expedite the completion of the electoral elections in a proper manner and acceptable to the political parties in Libya,” the statement added.
