Electoral Commission confirms its readiness to hold the presidential and parliamentary elections in mid-April 2026

The Chairman of the High National Elections Commission, Emad Al-Sayeh, received French officials. The meeting took place at the commission’s headquarters. Al-Sayeh met with Alexis Andres, the Deputy Director for North Africa and the Middle East at the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs. He was accompanied by Thierry Valla, the French Ambassador to Libya. They discussed the latest preparations for the country’s electoral process.

The talks focused on the municipal council elections (Group Three 2025). They also covered the anticipated general elections. Al-Sayeh outlined the commission’s technical and logistical readiness. He detailed plans for training and the distribution of electoral materials. He affirmed the commission’s commitment to holding transparent elections that meet international standards.

For his part, Andres praised the commission’s efforts in organizing the elections. He confirmed his country’s readiness to provide technical support and expertise. This support aims to ensure the success of the electoral process and enhance voter confidence.

The meeting concluded by affirming continued coordination between the commission and France. This cooperation will help support the democratic process and the success of upcoming elections.
