Benghazi – The 4th Benghazi International Book Fair hosted an eloquent poetry evening on Thursday night as part of the Cultural Activities Committee’s events, adding a sophisticated literary atmosphere that adorned the event’s nights, pulsating with beauty and eloquence.
A select group of poets participated in the evening, delighting the audience with diverse poems ranging from national sentiment to human emotion. They included Juma Al-Fakhri, Ahmed bin Wafa, Afaf Abdulmohsen, Fatima Al-Ruqai, Wijdan Ayyash, and Abdul Salam Buhajar, while the session was moderated by journalist Fatima Al-Majbari.
In a statement to the Libyan News Agency, poet Fatima Al-Ruqai expressed her happiness to participate, saying she was honored to attend this excellent evening and that the audience’s interaction with the poems was wonderful, stressing that the evening was full of creativity.
For his part, poet Abdul Salam Buhajar reminisced about his early days at the Libyan News Agency, speaking of the familial warmth and the presence of friends and loved ones who added a special atmosphere to the evening. He noted that the gathering brought together guests from several Libyan cities, which lent the hall a rich poetic spirit and high aesthetic quality.
Buhajar added that this was his second evening in Benghazi, after the Wahbi Al-Bouri evening, affirming that memories are the most important source for a poet in writing a poem and a driver for the love of poetry in the heart.
He pointed out that Benghazi remains a beacon of poetry, culture, and creativity, where words are born from the nation’s pulse and the spirit of peace to sincerely reach hearts.
