Benghazi – The Scientific Committee of the General Authority for the Search and Identification of Missing Persons has approved the results of twenty-seven cases of the victims of Hurricane Daniel, during its last meeting held yesterday, Wednesday, after completing the technical matching stages of the genetic data and referring it to specialists for final review. This decision came as a culmination of a series of extensive discussions that addressed the scientific and procedural aspects associated with each case, ensuring the accuracy of the results and the integrity of the procedures followed according to approved standards.
The approved results included cases belonging to families who were awaiting a decision on their files during the past period, as genetic analyses confirmed the validity of the data related to them. The committee also confirmed that among these cases is a female citizen of Egyptian nationality, in addition to another case of a criminal nature that met all legal and laboratory requirements before its ratification.
The Authority explained that the process of matching genetic data is a fundamental step in the identity verification process, especially in cases that require conclusive scientific evidence, affirming the continued work of its technical teams in examining the rest of the files presented to them, to ensure justice is achieved and a precise and reliable database is built.
