Benghazi – The Deputy Secretary-General of the Maghreb Union of Journalists, Husam al-Din al-Taib, announced the completion of procedures for the accreditation of its permanent headquarters in the city of Benghazi, after the headquarters agreement was signed with the Head of the Media and Culture Committee of the House of Representatives, Jalal Al-Shuwaidhy.
Al-Taib explained in a statement to the Libyan News Agency (LANA) that accrediting Benghazi as the headquarters for the presidency and the General Secretariat is in implementation of what was unanimously approved by the members during the union’s first conference, which Benghazi hosted last April.
Al-Taib praised the efforts of all state officials in general, and the official spokesman for the House of Representatives, Abdullah Blihaq, for the support and facilitations they provided, which enabled the union to launch its tasks from its permanent headquarters in Libya.
Al-Taib revealed to LANA that the union’s General Secretariat has already begun drafting the 2026 action plan, which includes unprecedented professional programs and projects aimed at serving journalists and media professionals within the largest regional journalistic bloc in North Africa and the Southern Mediterranean, which comprises more than ten thousand journalists and media professionals.
