Benghazi – The Arabian Gulf Oil Company is working on implementing a new water treatment project in the Messla and Nafoora fields, as part of its efforts to increase the efficiency of oil operations and protect the environment. The project aims to separate crude oil, return it to the production line, and treat the water for agricultural use, representing a significant step towards sustainable development.
On Monday, the Chairman of the Management Committee of the Arabian Gulf Oil Company, Mohamed Belqasim Ben Shatwan, held a meeting with a delegation from the American company “HWP” to discuss arrangements for implementing the water treatment project in the Messla and Nafoora fields.
Head of the Information Department, Ahmed Al-Oraibi, told the Libyan News Agency that the discussion covered the arrival of the necessary equipment for the project, which is expected to reach the two fields within three to four weeks, in preparation for the installation and commissioning phase. He noted that the project will effectively begin within a maximum of one to two months.
Al-Oraibi also explained that the project aims to separate crude oil and return it to the production line, which enhances operational efficiency, in addition to eliminating water ponds and extracting water suitable for agricultural and other purposes. This constitutes a qualitative leap in resource utilization.
Al-Oraibi concluded his statement by noting that the project is part of the company’s plan to increase the efficiency of oil fields and preserve the environment, contributing to the achievement of sustainable development and demonstrating the company’s commitment to supporting national directives in the field of energy and natural resources.
An expanded meeting was later held in the late Abdel Wanees Saad Hall, which included the American company’s delegation and a number of department managers from the Arabian Gulf Oil Company, during which the technical and administrative aspects of the project were discussed.
