Tripoli – The Counselor Attorney General held a high-level meeting this Monday with the Minister of Finance, the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, and the Head of the Budget Administration, as part of the ongoing follow-up on the country’s financial and economic reform efforts.
The meeting addressed the comprehensive national project aimed at unifying public spending rules. Attendees reviewed the initial results from the implementation of the first phase of the “Unified Treasury Account” system and its impact on controlling and rationalizing expenditures.
The pivotal role of the Public Prosecution in enhancing the governance of the salary payment system, which is funded by the public treasury, was also emphasized. The officials were briefed on key observations made by the investigation authority, which were uncovered while addressing incidents of financial and administrative corruption committed in previous years.
In a related context, the attendees stressed the strategic importance of activating the “Import Tracking System.” They highlighted its benefit in generating accurate information that helps deter fraudulent attempts to seize public funds through letters of credit, assign responsibility for the smuggling of prohibited materials, and its preventive role in reducing potential risks to consumer health and safety.
