Benghazi – The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs launched the Creative Essay Competition on Thursday as part of the fourth session of the Benghazi International Book Fair. The competition aims to consolidate the tolerant values of Islam and highlight the role of the word in construction, reform, and spreading religious and cultural awareness.
The head of the committee supervising the ministry’s pavilion at the fair, Abdulhafiz Jweili Younis, explained that the competition aims to motivate writers and researchers to use their pens in the service of Da’wah (the Islamic call) and balanced, moderate Islamic thought, noting that a purposeful word serves as a platform for preaching with wisdom and good counsel.
Jweili indicated that the competition is open to writers, researchers, and those interested in Da’wah and cultural affairs. The essays will be evaluated by a specialized scientific committee under the supervision of the ministry’s Department of Studies and Research, according to criteria that consider the Sharia-compliant content, linguistic integrity, stylistic beauty, originality, and the Da’wah impact of the essay.
The official affirmed that this initiative is part of the ministry’s commitment to enhancing communication between preachers, intellectuals, and writers, and to activating the role of the sincere word in building awareness and combating extremist thought. He noted that the competition results will be announced on the final day of the fair, where the top three winners will be honored, and the outstanding essays will be published in the ministry’s publications and on its media platforms.
