Benghazi – The Benghazi Commissionerate’s Pioneers Scout and Girl Guide Association organized an awareness lecture. It took place last Monday. The lecture was titled “The Scout: A Model for Safe Leadership in the Age of Artificial Intelligence.” Its aim was to enhance digital awareness among pioneers, leaders, and youth. It also aimed to introduce the dangers of unsafe AI and social media use. The lecture sought to instill principles of responsible leadership in the virtual environment.
Cybersecurity expert Abdul Qadir Rahim spoke to the Libyan News Agency. He is also the Senior Advisor to the Arab Union for Internet and Telecommunications at the League of Arab States. Rahim affirmed the lecture’s goal was to educate participants. It covered transitioning from traditional to digital environments. It focused on building a secure online presence. Participants learned about digital tracking methods. They also learned ways to protect against the negative uses of modern technologies.
Rahim explained the world is witnessing rapid expansion in artificial intelligence. AI has become part of daily use across various devices. He noted AI relies on data collection. It also analyzes user behavior. This necessitates enhancing digital awareness. Learning protection tools is crucial for safe internet use.
Rahim concluded the lecture. He emphasized that cybersecurity is no longer a technical option. It has become a societal necessity in 2026. He stressed that user protection extends beyond devices. It includes safeguarding awareness from digital falsification. It also protects against algorithmic influences.
Abdul Qadir Al-Turki, Commissioner of the Benghazi Pioneers Scout and Girl Guide Association, clarified. Targeting this age group is vital. It stems from the importance of educating youth about AI’s pros and cons. This helps them evaluate digital content. It also helps avoid falling into the trap of digital falsification and misinformation via social media.
