Amel Bugaighis, a member of the Political Dialogue Forum, questioned the fate of the Solidarity Fund, which has a huge budget outside the general state budget and is legally obligated to support the education of children from poor and large families. In a Facebook post, she asked: “Where is this fund hiding? Who monitors it? And who sees or hears about it, other than the limited number of basic pension recipients?”
In a post on her personal Facebook page, Bugaighis pointed out that the start of the school year in the “oil and gas state” coincides with repeated charity campaigns to provide bags and notebooks. While thanking the charitable organizations, she stressed the need to track down the main funder stipulated by law (the Solidarity Fund).
She clarified that the Solidarity Fund is different from the Social Security Fund, stressing that the former must be held accountable for its role in funding education for eligible groups.
