Member of the House of Representatives Adnan Al-Shaab confirmed that the meeting between the committees of the House of Representatives and the High Council of State regarding the sovereign positions file was “very successful” and resulted in a consensus on all points raised. In statements reported by the “Sputnik” agency, he explained that they began with the High National Elections Commission file, where an agreement was reached to conduct a comprehensive change in the leadership and members of its board of directors within ten days from the date of the meeting.
Al-Shaab clarified that the second meeting between the two committees will be dedicated to addressing the remaining sovereign positions, in preparation for completing the political entitlements according to a consensual vision between the two parties.
He stated that the sovereign positions under discussion include: the Supreme Court, the Attorney General, the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, the Administrative Control Authority, the Audit Bureau, and the Anti-Corruption Commission, in addition to the High National Elections Commission.
Al-Shaab noted that the Audit Bureau, the Administrative Control Authority, and the Anti-Corruption Commission suffer from internal divisions, which necessitates their unification under a single leadership and the selection of new figures for these three positions, so they can fully assume their role in protecting public funds.
As for the Central Bank of Libya, the Attorney General, and the Supreme Court, he confirmed that they have not experienced division and are performing their duties at 80% efficiency. Therefore, there is no “desire” to make changes to them at present, pointing out that the primary goal is to reunite and unify the bodies under effective administrations.
