Benghazi – Experts, academics, and specialists in the fields of social work and psychological counseling concluded, yesterday, Tuesday, the work of the workshop held in Benghazi, which was dedicated to adapting the positive parenting curriculum to suit the Libyan social and cultural specificity.
The workshop was organized by the Department of Social Work, School Health, and Psychological Counseling at the Ministry of Education in the Libyan Government, in cooperation with the UNICEF organization, and with wide participation from specialists from various parts of Libya, including academics, social workers, and psychological counselors.
Suad Al-Oraibi, the Director of the Department, explained in a statement to the Libyan News Agency that the process of “Libyanizing” the curriculum represents a fundamental step towards providing educational content that suits the Libyan family.
Al-Oraibi indicated that the discussions and proposals that resulted from the workshop will be submitted to the Ministry for its official adoption.
The sessions featured scientific presentations and discussions on modern parenting methods and mechanisms for supporting parents, in addition to a detailed review of the curriculum’s structure to ensure its compatibility with Libyan cultural specificity.
The participants stressed the importance of promoting the culture of positive parenting and providing practical tools for specialists working in school counseling and family awareness.
It is scheduled that the Ministry will begin studying the recommendations in the coming period in preparation for adopting the curriculum in its new format.
