Dignitaries and political activists of Cyrenaica issued a statement Sunday regarding the political developments, demanding justice in distributing wealth to all Libya’s regions.
“We are not advocates of divide or separation,” the statement said.
“We demand that all salaries be paid in all sectors and companies and that the clearing system between banks be reopened,” it added.
They also demanded return of all institutions that were established in Cyrenaica and transferred to Tripoli, and granting full powers to the Vice President of the Government of National Unity (GNU), who is from Cyrenaica, and to all agents.
“We demand simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections on the previously set date, and the House of Representatives (HoR) should amend the elections law,”
They confirmed their support to the Libyan National Army (LNA) and all the outcomes of the 5+5 Joint Military Committee (JMC).
Cyrenaica meeting statement deplored “the fact that the Minister of Defense has not been named so far and that the Prime Minister retains the position.”
