Egypt and Italy stressed the need for foreign forces and mercenaries to leave Libya without delay, while welcoming the opening of the Coastal Road between the cities of Sirte and Misrata.
The joint position came during a phone call that Egyptian Minister Sameh Shoukry received from his Italian counterpart Luigi Di Maio, in which they discussed a number of regional issues, especially the developments in Libya, according to a press statement by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry.
Di Maio briefed Shoukry on the overall results of his recent visit to Libya and his meetings with various parties, while the latter stressed the importance of fulfilling the road map approved by the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LPDF) and UN Security Council Resolution 2570 regarding holding the presidential and legislative elections on time on December 24.
