Member of the House of Representatives Saleh Fheima welcomed any initiative that could contribute to ending the division, provided that it has a clear legal basis, calculated outcomes, and does not conflict with existing constitutional authorities.
In a statement to “Al Jazeera Net,” Fheima opined that the current political, economic, and security conditions have created a need to search for new formulas for rapprochement. He explained that the issue is not related to the timing of these calls but to their formation, legitimacy, and guarantees, stressing that past experiences have proven that creating parallel bodies without explicit constitutional cover may deepen the crisis rather than solve it.
Regarding Minister Al-Lafi’s invitation for Parliament to join the body, Fheima clarified that the House of Representatives views any call for communication positively, on the condition of adherence to basic principles. These include clarity of powers, an approved legal framework, and ensuring that the outcomes are advisory and non-binding, while guaranteeing that this path does not turn into an unconstitutional alternative to elected institutions.
