Tripoli – The first Syrian Airlines flight from Damascus International Airport arrived at Mitiga International Airport in Tripoli early Monday, marking a new step in strengthening Libyan-Syrian cooperation in air transport and facilitating the movement of citizens between the two countries.
The flight was received by Mitiga Airport Director Ibrahim Ferkash, along with an official delegation from the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs headed by Deputy Minister Mohammed Al-Jaffal. The plane later departed back to Damascus carrying a number of Syrian passengers.
Captain Samah Arabi, Director of Syrian Airlines, explained that the flights are currently classified as charter rather than scheduled services, pending the completion of arrangements and the establishment of a fixed timetable. He added that work is underway to launch flights to Benghazi once security and technical procedures are finalized in coordination with Libyan civil aviation authorities.
