Ghat Municipality wins first place in the Social Governments Award 2025

Ghat – The Municipality of Ghat celebrated being awarded first place in the “Best Digital Content on Social Media Platforms” category of the Social Governments Award 2025, organized by the Social Governments Institute in the UAE.
The win was for the documentary film “Tamnoukelt Center,” produced by the municipality’s Public Relations and Media Department, which highlights the successful project to revive the Ghat Garment Factory after a shutdown of more than four decades.
Jamila Fadel Hanini, Director of the Women’s Support and Empowerment Office at the Ghat Municipal Council, told a LANA correspondent that this achievement reflects the municipality’s commitment to enhancing the role of women and community participation through quality development projects.
She added that the center has become a genuine platform for economically and socially empowering women, hosting numerous activities and traditional crafts that preserve local cultural heritage and provide sustainable employment opportunities for women.
She praised the continuous support from the Head of the Steering Council, Ibrahim Al-Khalil, and the efforts of the teams who contributed to preparing and producing the film. She stressed that this achievement is a message of hope that southern Libya is capable of competition and creativity, and that teamwork and belief in the abilities of the nation’s people are the path to excellence and leadership.
The city of Ghat held an official ceremony to celebrate receiving the award, attended by several members of the Steering Council, office directors, and representatives of civil society organizations. The winning documentary was screened in a festive atmosphere filled with pride and honor.
