CAIRO – The Greek prime minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, was in Cairo for an official visit to Egypt on Monday, where he met with the Egyptian presidents, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
The two leaders discussed a variety of issues of mutual concern, including the situation in Libya.
“We also discussed developments in Libya,” said Mitsotakis during a joint press conference with al-Sisi. “We support peace and order in the neighbouring country and the basic precondition is the withdrawal of all foreign troops and mercenaries and finally the holding of elections before the end of the year.”
“Mr. Sisi shares our deep annoyance for the non-participation of Greece in the Berlin Process,” said the Greek premier, in a reference to the 2nd Berlin Conference on Libya, scheduled for Wednesday June 23rd.
