Libya’s High National Election Commission (HNEC) is to conduct elections “once political agreement has been reached on the way ahead.”
This was confirmed by Imad al-Sayeh, HNEC’s chairman, during his meeting with U.S. Special Envoy and Ambassador to Libya, Richard Norland, according to the U.S. Embassy in the country.
Norland pointed that the joint committee between the House of Representatives and the High Council of State will adopt a constitutional basis that would represent “the next practical step toward this goal, and we urge all sides to support this process.”
