HoR Spox accuse GNU of disrupting elections

Spokesman of the Libyan House of Representatives (HoR), Abdulla Bleihiq, accused the Government of National Unity (GNU), headed by Abdel Hamid Dbeibeh, of disrupting holding the December 24 delayed elections.

Bleihiq said in statements to Sky News Arabia that the Road Map Committee will decide the fate of Dbeibeh’s government.

The Spokesman pointed out that the HoR amended the election law as requested by the High National Elections Commission (HNEC).

The presidential elections were supposed to take place on December 24, according to the plan sponsored by the United Nations, but HNEC announced last Wednesday that it could not be held and suggested postponing it to January 24, 2022.

Over the course of two days, the HoR held two official sessions to discuss the reasons for delaying the elections but postponed taking any decisions until next week.
