UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) held on Friday a Disarmament, Demobilization, Reintegration (DDR) Working Group meeting with the active participation of key Libyan Officials from East and West, according to the Mission.
The meeting provided a platform for a coherent international community approach to supporting relevant Libyan institutions to contribute to DDR and broadly to social cohesion, and peace and stability for Libya and the region, UNSMIL said in a statement.
The meeting, attended by the UN Country Team, member states, and INGOs, identified important recommendations, including engaging community leaders in conflict prevention, mediation, and de-militarizing residential areas, the statement pointed out.
