Libya is hosting 704,369 irregular migrants on its territory, according to The International Organization for Migration (IOM) data.

The UN organization estimates that 79% of those migrants are men, 11% women, and 10% children.

The report released on Friday was based on an IOM survey conducted between May and June of this year.

The western region of Libya has received the highest number of migrants, with 53% settling there, while 34% have settled in the eastern areas, and 13% in the south. According to the IOM, a trip to Libya costs $863 per migrant.

It further indicated that 25% of immigrants covered by the survey hold Nigerian citizenship, 24% are from Egypt, 18% from Sudan, 11% from Chad, and 4% from Nigeria. The unemployment rate among these immigrants was reported to be 23%.
