The Speaker of Libya’s House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh, held an expanded meeting in Benghazi with the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, Naji Issa, and his deputy, Marai Al-Barasi. They were joined by the First and Second Deputy Speakers of Parliament.
The meeting focused on economic reforms and developing monetary policy. Governor Issa pledged to resolve the country’s liquidity crisis by the first of October. He also confirmed that the Central Bank is working effectively and in an organized manner to activate and develop electronic payment processes.
During the meeting, the Central Bank presented proposals to the Parliament aimed at solving some of the bottlenecks it faces. The Parliament affirmed its support for this approach to help overcome all difficulties and obstacles.
