Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh to assign his duties tonight to his deputy, Ramadan Boujnah, in preparation for announcing his candidacy for the presidency, according to sources close to the Government of National Unity (GNU).
The sources revealed Dbeibeh would announce his candidacy for the presidential elections next Monday.
It is noteworthy that the Presidential Elections Law issued by the House of Representatives (HoR) on September 10 requires that each electoral candidate be suspended from work and exercising his/her duties three months before the election date, and if he/she is not elected, he/she returns to previous work and receives his/her dues, according to the law.
The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) called Sunday on HoR to remove restrictions imposed on those holding public office to participate in the presidential elections scheduled for December 24.
