The Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity (GNU), Abdel Hamid Dbeibeh, instructed the Minister of Transportation to restore air navigation between Libyan and Tunisian airports, starting this Thursday, while taking all precautionary measures to confront the Coronavirus pandemic.
Dbeibeh’s decision was based on the recommendations of the Follow-up Committee on the Situation of Trapped Persons in the State of Tunisia to open the land and air crossings, considering the health and humanitarian conditions.
Libya had closed its borders last month as a precautionary step for what was described at the time as the exacerbation of the epidemiological situation in Tunisia and the increase in the rate of infections with COVID-19.
