Deputy SRSG in Libya Raisedon Zenenga received yesterday a delegation from the Constitutional Equality Movement which included activists, women representatives, and representatives of the Amazigh, Arab, Tabu and Tuareg communities, according to UN.
The delegation presented views on the need for equitable political participation and representation in sovereign institutions for all parts of Libyan society, notably women and the cultural components, UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) said on Monday.
They stressed the importance of holding elections based on a constitutional framework that guarantees the equal rights of women and all four components of the Libyan nation – Amazigh, Arab, Tabu, and Tuareg, UNSMIL pointed out.
The DSRSG thanked the delegation for their analysis and received, on behalf of SRSG Bathily, their written proposal on how to improve Libya’s constitutional norms to ensure the enjoyment of equal rights and full political participation by all Libyan citizens, it added.
