The Libyan ambassador to Ukraine, Adel Issa, confirmed the arrival of Libyan families stuck in the city of Sumy, northeastern Ukraine (350 km east of Kyiv), to the temporary headquarters of the embassy in Lviv.
“The families stuck in Sumy have arrived at the temporary headquarters of the embassy in the city of Lviv, and everyone is well,” Issa said on Facebook.
He added, “The rest of our besieged citizens have also been completely evacuated from the city of Sumy, and they are all safe.”
Issa stated that the exit of the last family stuck in the city of Severodinsk was secured, noting that it was on its way to the city of Lviv.
Sumy, near the Russian border, has been witnessing fierce fighting for days.
On Monday, Moscow announced a ceasefire, starting at 7 am GMT today, to evacuate civilians from Kyiv and from the cities of Sumy, Kharkiv, Chernigov and Mariupol.
