Mohamed Sowan, the former leader of the Muslim Brotherhood’s Justice and Construction Party, called on all Libyan parties to reject the parliamentary elections law, which was recently issued by the House of Representative, because it is not based on party-list proportional representation.
In a statement via his Facebook page, Sowan warned that democracy and “political diversity” in Libya would be damaged if seats were not allocated for political parties in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
He also called on the United Nations and the international community to intervene in support of stipulating a provision within the law, which would allow parliamentary representation for political parties.
