The Libyan Muslim Brotherhood has decided to rebrand its affiliate political party, the so-called Justice and Construction Party, and rename it “the Democratic Party”.
Mohamed Sowan, the party’s founder, has recently filed a request before the country’s Supreme Judicial Council to change his party’s name, according to multiple press reports.
The move notably comes ahead of the Libyan presidential and parliamentary elections on December 24. However, no member of the party has yet announced a bid to run for office.
