The head of the Directorate for Combatting Illegal Migration, Major General Salah al-Khafifi, discussed the issue of illegal migrants of Nigerian nationality with the Consul General of the Republic of Nigeria to Libya.
During the meeting, they agreed to enhance joint cooperation to expedite the issuance of necessary travel documents, in a way that facilitates the return of migrants to their country, in coordination with the International Organization for Migration.
In a related context, the Directorate’s branch in Greater Benghazi announced the operation of two flights to return illegal migrants to their countries.
The first involved the deportation of 163 migrants from Bangladesh, including medical cases and individuals with security restrictions, while the second involved the deportation of 159 migrants from Chad, among them individuals with infectious diseases and others for whom a deportation order had been issued.
The Directorate affirmed that these efforts are part of the work to organize the voluntary return of migrants in cooperation with the relevant international bodies.
