Deputy Oil Minister Rifaat Al-Abbar has submitted his resignation to Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh, according to the Libyan government press office.
“Due to my special circumstances, I am submitting my resignation from the position assigned to me as Deputy Oil Minister,” reads the letter of resignation.
Al-Abbar spoke of his cooperation with Oil Minister Mohamed Aoun during the last period, extending his appreciation to Aoun for the “treatment I received during my working period”.
It is noteworthy that Al-Abbar and Aoun have had a public dispute over the latter’s decision to depose Mustafa Sanalla, the chairman of the National Oil Corporation (NOC).
