The voting process began on Saturday in 16 Libyan municipalities out of 28 targeted as part of the third group of municipal council elections.
The High National Elections Commission announced that the municipalities where voting has commenced are: (Jakhira – Awjila – Ubari – Al-Ghuraifa – Jalu – Kufra – Ghat – Al-Qatrun – Marj – Jufra – Al-Sharqia – Jardas al-Abid – Al-Qarda Al-Shati – Brak Al-Shati – Gulf of Sidra – Idri Al-Shati).
The Commission expected approximately 96,000 male and female voters to go to 142 polling centers, containing 341 stations, to elect 743 male and female candidates under the dual system (lists/individuals).
Under Executive Regulation No. (43) of 2023, voting will continue until 6:00 PM, overseen by 3,000 accredited agents and observers to ensure transparency and integrity in the electoral process.
