Political expert Mohammed Mahfouz stated that the ongoing military mobilizations do not necessarily mean the outbreak of a major confrontation, noting that opening fire by Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh’s government on the Deterrence Force is not a definite option.
Mahfouz explained, in exclusive remarks to the Sky News Arabia website, that any military confrontation in the heart of the capital would lead to the striking of vital facilities such as the airport and the port, which means a complete paralysis of the city and civilian casualties.
He added that some external powers might not object to the outbreak of a limited confrontation, but they will not allow it to continue for more than 24 hours due to its danger to regional stability and the local economy.
