Benghazi – The General Electricity Company announced on Sunday that the Overhead Lines Maintenance Department in Benghazi has carried out work to reroute one of the phases feeding the Sidi Mansour power station, as part of its efforts to improve the regularity of the electrical current and ensure grid stability.
The company explained in its statement that field maintenance teams moved one of the phases from one side of the tower to another, with the aim of increasing the safety level of the electrical grid and moving the conductor away from a 220-kilovolt tower, which contributes to reducing faults and improving operational efficiency.
The Ministry of Electricity in the government appointed by the House of Representatives had announced on Saturday a power outage in five areas of Benghazi for a period of four to six hours to carry out necessary maintenance on several grid components.
The ministry indicated that the North Generation/Al-Marj power transmission circuit No. (2) at 220 kilovolts was disconnected, in addition to the Sidi Mansour 220/30 kilovolt transformer, in order to change the insulator downleads and replace them with new rubber insulators as part of a preventive maintenance plan to improve the performance of the electrical grid in the city.
