Sabha – The First Scientific Conference for Medical Sciences launched this Monday morning at the Languages Center at Sabha University, under the slogan “Together for the South.”
Naji Al-Sufi, director of the Fezzan Platform, told the Libyan News Agency that the conference’s organization stems from Sabha University’s belief that science is the pulse of life and development, and its endeavor to enrich scientific research and keep pace with the latest developments in medical fields, which enhances the university’s position as a center of scientific enlightenment in southern Libya.
The opening ceremony was attended by the President of Sabha University, Dr. Masoud Mohammed Al-Raqeeq, who also serves as the designated Head of the Cabinet Diwan for the Southern Region, alongside the heads of the scientific and preparatory committees for the conference, directors of departments and centers, heads of scientific departments, and a number of academics and those interested in medical affairs.
The conference aims to support scientific research and the exchange of expertise according to the plan set by the High Preparatory Committee supervising the event.
It is expected to feature the presentation of research papers and specialized scientific lectures in various branches of medical sciences, with the participation of a select group of doctors and researchers from inside and outside Libya, in a step to enhance academic and scientific cooperation and advance the health sector in southern Libya.
The conference is sponsored by Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar’s “Together for the South” initiative, and supported by Deputy Prime Minister Ihmed Houma and the Cabinet Diwan for the Southern Region.
