Benghazi – The Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy of the Libyan Government announced the completion of an important project aimed at addressing the electrical bottleneck on feeder 1106 from the purification station, with the support of the Libya Development and Reconstruction Fund.
Feeder 1106 was experiencing high loads exceeding 8 megawatts, which caused frequent and forced interruptions in electricity distribution to the residents connected to it.
This project came as a radical solution to relieve pressure on this feeder by transferring about 3 megawatts of its load to the adjacent feeder 1102, despite its lower capacity.
The Ministry stated in a statement on its Facebook page that the project’s technical solution included the implementation of a quadruple ring main unit, in addition to five terminals with an 11-kilovolt connection, enhancing operational flexibility and ensuring greater stability in electricity distribution to the benefiting areas.
The project was implemented with support from the National Electrical Works Company, one of the ministry’s companies, and through the efforts of the technical teams of the South Benghazi Department, who completed the fieldwork quickly and efficiently according to the highest technical standards.
The Ministry confirmed that with the completion of the project, the suffering of thousands of citizens who rely on feeder 1106 will effectively end, as they will no longer be subjected to recurring power outages caused by overloads.
