Benghazi – The Ministry of Health announced on Wednesday the launch of the National Committee for Early Cancer Detection. This occurred during the scientific conference “Early Detection… Saving Lives.” The conference took place in Benghazi. It was organized by Al-Keesh Center for Specialized Clinics and Primary Healthcare. Representatives from the Development Fund attended. Many health specialists also participated.
Dr. Abdulsalam Akila, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, affirmed the importance of early cancer detection. It is a top priority in the healthcare sector reform strategy. Early detection plays a pivotal role in reducing mortality rates. It also increases recovery chances. This initiative aims to enhance prevention. It also seeks to improve the quality of health services.
He explained that the National Committee project aims to create an accurate national database for cancer patients. This will improve health planning. It will also raise the efficiency of medical services provided to citizens.
He revealed the official launch date for the committee’s services. It will be March 21, 2026. This date coincides with Mother and Child Day. This emphasizes the project’s humanitarian and social dimensions.
He noted that the committee’s launch aligns with Libyan government directives. It is supported by the General Command. This command has provided a suitable environment for national health programs.
He praised the Development Fund’s role. It develops health infrastructure. It also qualifies and equips medical facilities. He extended gratitude to the management of Al-Keesh Center for Specialized Clinics and Primary Healthcare. This was for their efforts in organizing the scientific conference. They also supported purposeful health initiatives.
