Member of the House of Representatives, Abdel Moneim Al-Orfi, said that the State Council’s vote to prevent military personnel and dual nationals from running in the elections is contrary to the agreement of Parliament Speaker Aguila Saleh and State Council President Khaled Al-Mashri.
Al-Orfi added in press statements that Aguila and Al-Mashri had previously agreed that the decision in this regard would be postponed to the next parliament.
He continued, “What the members of the State Council voted on regarding the conditions for running for the presidential elections is rejected.”
He concluded: “All Libyans are supposed to be given the opportunity to run intheelections, and the people have to freely choose whoever they want.”
