Abdullah Blehaq, the spokesman of the House of Representatives, affirmed on Wednesday that there is “no real justification” to postpone the elections on December 24, as the parliament made progress on legal procedures.
“[Posting elections] is a scenario that we neither want nor wish for, because the entire issue of postponing the elections will increase the country’s suffering, and will disrupt the Libyan people’s demands for the removal of foreign forces and mercenaries, and the unification of state institutions,” Blehaq told a local TV channel last night.
“Nevertheless, what stands in the way of elections is finalizing laws, legislative procedures and the constitutional basis, and the Parliament has made great strides in this direction,” he added.
